Dear Hiring Team,
I am applying for the Product Designer role at Aios Medical. Designing products in regulated, complex domains — where compliance constraints shape the solution space as much as user needs — is where I have spent most of my career.
Regulated products are my territory. I founded ShiftDigital, a GovTech startup that built workflow software for municipal government. For six years, I designed a product that had to meet public procurement standards, data protection requirements, and accessibility mandates — while remaining usable for non-technical civil servants. Before that, I led design at ABS Safety, where the products — fall protection planning tools — operated under strict safety regulations. Both domains required navigating complex compliance constraints without sacrificing usability. I expect healthcare to be similar in its tension between regulatory rigor and user experience.
I own problems end-to-end. At ShiftDigital, I was the sole designer for the first three years and CEO for the last four. Every product decision — from information architecture to onboarding flow to internal tooling — was mine to define, design, and ship. At ABS Safety, I expanded this to team scale: building the design function, introducing research practices, and establishing the infrastructure that allowed seven designers to work coherently across three product teams.
Web, mobile, and internal tools. My experience spans customer-facing applications, complex configuration interfaces, and internal workflows — the full stack of surfaces that a growing health product needs. I also bring solid frontend skills (HTML, CSS, JS, React) that allow me to collaborate closely with engineers and prototype at the code level when needed.
I look forward to discussing how I can contribute.
Best regards
David Latz
